Congratulations to the 23 police officers graduating from the South Australia Police (SAPOL) Academy.
The graduates of Course 58 range in age from 19 to 34. Eight of the graduates have worked with South Australia Police before, in the call centre, as a Police Security Officer role and Expiation Notice Branch.
They will be posted to a number of metropolitan areas, as well as Whyalla, Port Augusta, Port Pirie, Port Lincoln and Murray Bridge.
One of the graduates is Ryan who worked as a Police Security Officer (PSO) during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I loved the PSO role and it was a good stepping stone to become a police officer, which was always my end goal,” Ryan said.
“The courses had similarities, but there was a higher level of fitness needed for the Operational Safety Training.”
Aisha also graduated today. “I always wanted to be a police officer. The course was a little more challenging than I thought, but it has pushed me and I have grown as a person.”
“I’m off to a role in the country after living in Adelaide my whole life. I’m looking forward to getting out and joining the community,” she said.
Ryan has this advice for people considering a career with SAPOL:
“Give it a go, I had a great time, made some great friends and now have lots of opportunity to go anywhere in this career.”
SAPOL is currently recruiting and is keen to hear from people from all walks of life. To make the application process easier, SAPOL has implemented a range of initiatives – including the transition to an online application process and covering the cost of the SAPOL TAFE recruitment test (for a limited time only).
