The City of Arlington Parks and Recreation and Go Ape, the nation’s premier Zipline & Adventure Park company, announced that two brand new zipline and cable car rides will open to the public on Friday, April 3rd. March at River Legacy Park East. Go Ape will bring a variety of exciting outdoor activities to Arlington’s premier recreation center, including epic ziplines over the majestic Trinity River.

“Partnering with Go Ape, the premier zipline and cable car provider in the United States, is an exciting opportunity to provide an exciting outdoor experience for Arlington residents and visitors alike, and gives us the chance to showcase our park system from a new vantage point.” Parks and Recreation Director James Orloski said. “We can’t wait to see the smiles as adventure seekers soar through the skies!”

Go Ape will offer three unique activities for guests to explore the beautiful River Legacy Park East, including the Treetop Adventure, a three-hour high-ropes course with spectacular views. This experience includes 60+ aerial crossings and obstacles, a massive Tarzan swing and several thrilling ziplines over the Trinity River. The Treetop Journey course is a one-hour fun experience, including 30 obstacles and two ziplines, all while you’re 20 feet above the ground. Security systems ensure that participants stay connected the entire time they are on both courses. The adventure park in Arlington will also include an outdoor ax throwing range where participants can throw axes at targets and compete with their friends in various games and challenges.

“We are thrilled to partner with Arlington Parks and Recreation to bring a variety of adventurous experiences to Arlington and the surrounding communities,” said Go Ape Executive Director, Vernon West. “These activities will be open to participants of all ages and skill levels. Our instructors will provide an amazing experience for all guests, giving them a unique and fun adventure culminating in a 550-foot zipline over the Trinity River.”

Go Ape, has 15 locations across the United States, including a location in Plano at Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve and a new location opening in Sugar Land this spring.

Quick facts about the Go Ape activities

Treetop Adventure

  • 60+ obstacles and five ziplines, 40 feet in the air
  • Costs $59.95 – $64.95 and guests have three hours to explore at their own pace
  • Open to all ages, but participants must be 4’7″ tall
  • Youth guests aged 15 and under must be accompanied on the course by an adult.

Treetop journey

  • 30 obstacles and two ziplines, 20 feet in the air
  • Costs $39.95 and guests have one hour to explore at their own pace
  • Open to all ages, but participants must be at least 3’3″ tall
  • Children under the age of 6 must be accompanied on the course by an adult, while participants aged 6 to 15 must be supervised by an adult who either follows them on the course or from below on the ground.

Outdoor ax throwing

  • Four courses and various recommended games
  • Costs $19.95 and guests have one hour to throw axes at the target
  • Ages 10+ and participants aged 15 and under must be supervised by an adult
