Space Girls Festival presents ILLUMINATE: Glow with PRIDE in celebration of Pride Month 2023 on Saturday, June 24 at the historic Australian Institute of Country Music, Channon Street Gympie, Queensland. This spectacular event promises a day filled with dance, creative workshops, music, fashion, and an evening of laughter, with a program that runs from 10am to 10pm.
The twelve-hour mini-festival aims to create a safe and inclusive safe space where people from all walks of life can come together to celebrate love, diversity, creativity and the power of unity as a community.
Creative workshops on offer include a community dance project, badge making, pride flag sewing, and Wear Your Art with Cindy Vogels, founder and head designer of Racy & Lucky who ‘dress the music’. Vogels is then host to Rainbow Runway, a family friendly show at 6pm featuring wearable art, music and more. As the headline music act of the show, the extraordinary GLVES has captivated audiences around Australia with her mesmerising vocals and artistry that pushes the boundaries of creativity, creating a transcendent experience that resonates deeply with spectators.
The ILLUMINATE Festival will conclude with an unforgettable 18+ Stand-Up Comedy Show, hosted by the vivacious Anna Brennan and featuring a gaggle of queer all stars from the Australian stand up circuit.
In addition to the entertainment, Headspace Gympie is hosting a chill out lounge from 10am to 4pm. The festival will also offer a free family lunch and refreshments on sale at the alcohol free bar, as part of a commitment to creating an inclusive environment that fosters understanding, acceptance, and celebrates the LGBTQ+ community, with friends, family and allies.
Space Girls ILUMINATE is excited to contribute to Pride Month celebrations by hosting this event in Gympie. The festival not only aims to entertain and inspire but also to support local LGBTIQ+ friendly organisations and initiatives and small business all banding together as volunteers, in close association with Gympie Pride Festival and Headspace Gympie.
