Among the new faces at this year’s International Jewellery Fair (IJF) in Sydney will be members of the US-based Independent Jewelers Organisation (IJO).
The IJO is a founding member of the Global Jewellers Network, a collaboration with Australia’s Nationwide Jewellers and The Company of Master Jewellers (CMJ) operating in the UK and Ireland.
Coming from the US and Canada, the IJO members are scheduled to participate in a 14-day tour of Australia and New Zealand which will begin at the IJF in Sydney’s Darling Harbour on 19-21 August.
Led by president Jeff Roberts, the group will also meet with Nationwide’s management team while in Australia in order to further promote resource sharing.
Nationwide managing director Colin Pocklington told Jeweller it will be a tremendous opportunity for all involved.
“The Global Jewellers Network is already delivering benefits to all three groups,” he said.
“The IJO motto is ‘strength in numbers’ and with more than 1,500 jewellery stores represented it certainly has substantial collective industry knowledge that will benefit all of our members for years to come”.
Once the IJF has concluded, the group will then tour the Blue Mountains, Port Douglas, and Auckland. A meeting between Nationwide representatives and the CMJ recently took place in England.
