Glastonbury Festival is just around the corner, and while most music fans battled in an online frenzy to secure tickets to the sold-out music event, some very local people receive free tickets. The world-famous festival takes place on the doorstep of the pretty village of Pilton, and residents are offered free festival passes every year.
But free tickets are just one of the many perks that locals enjoy. The beautiful village features secluded country lanes, picture-perfect cottages and outstanding views across the Somerset countryside.
As one of the most popular villages in the area, Pilton boasts a very active and friendly community. A population of less than 1,000 means the community is tight-knit and it offers a wide range of activities and amenities.

Aside from Glastonbury Festival, Pilton has numerous clubs, a playgroup, a very smart village hall, a village shop which hosts a Post Office, playing fields with a clubhouse, a splendid 11th century church, and a 14th century tithe barn. The village is also home to a newly renovated and well-regarded pub, which if rumours are to be believed, is now owned by graffiti artist Banksy.
Pilton is a pricey area, so you’ll have to shell out if you want to move to the village. All three houses currently on the market are priced at more than half-a-million pounds.
But it could be a price worth paying to live in the beautiful village and have access to guaranteed free Glastonbury Festival tickets. Take a look at the properties currently available in Pilton below.
Substantial detached house
Stoneleigh is a large four-bedroom home for sale in Pilton. It is on the market with estate agent Lodestone Property with a guide price of £795,000.
Described as a “wonderful bespoke home”, it has a “particularly spacious feel with very good room sizes throughout”. It also boasts large gardens measuring 1.6 acres.
Eco-friendly four-bed home
Stoney Drive is a “beautifully presented and eco-friendly four double bedroom detached home” at Westholme Road, Pilton. It is on the market with estate agent Roderick Thomas with a guide price of £650,000.
Built in 2010, the relatively new property has been owned by the same family ever since. The property was built using structural insulated panels (SIPs), has solar panels providing electricity and receives its hot water from an air source heat pump making this an extremely cost effective house to run.
Architect-designed barn conversion
When completed, Upper Westholme Barns will be “exceptional modern homes”. Although currently under construction at a cluster of historic stone stables, barns and outhouses, one property is already up for sale with estate agent The Modern House with a guide price of £750,000.
Designed by acclaimed architectural practice Liddicoat & Goldhill, the house will feature a modern and simple design scheme, preserving as much of the original structures as possible. “Beautifully landscaped courtyards and gardens” will optimise far-reaching views across Pennard Ridge to the south and Glastonbury Tor to the west.
