Gin subscription service, Gintonica, has been placed for sale by Founder David Box, who is now focusing on providing services to distilleries.
Gintonica produces gin tasting boxes featuring miniature bottlings, and a monthly gin subscription service, alongside popular advent calendars each year.
In a short press statement, Box said: “The team and I are proud to have contributed to the promotion and rise in popularity of Australian gin and, more recently, whisky, but now it is time to hand over the reins to new passionate gin lovers who, I am sure, will take it to the next level.”
The sale will include the business names (apparently including the recently launched WhiskyRocks whisky subscription service), the company’s database, websites, stock and media content.
Regarding his future, Box stated: “I have decided to focus the ongoing business on distillery services, under the name ‘Spirited Bottlers’.”
According to the company statement, Spirit Bottlers’ services ‘will include contract filling, capping and labelling bottles for distilleries as well as supply of bespoke packaging and Gintonica’s own exclusively sourced 30ml and 50ml bottles.’
The announcement caps a difficult period for online alcohol businesses, following ecommerce specialist Boozebud and B2B trade platform Kaddy both calling in the administrators.
