Leycett thirds produced a remarkable fightback to secure a seven-run victory at Rode Park & Lawton in Division Two.
Rode Park & Lawton were set 191 for victory – and it seemed like a formality once they had progressed to 158-2 in their run chase.
That was down to the efforts of Jacob Mountford (47), Andrew Marshall (44), Thomas Atkinson (41) and Dan Forster (30).
However, Leycett were not finished as they worked their way through the home side’s batting line-up. And Rode Park & Lawton then lost their last three wickets without addition to the score to fall to 183 all out.
Alistair Gething picked up 4-34 for Leycett, backed up by Martin Bryan’s 3-40 and a couple of wickets from Gavin Felsinger.
Felsinger had earlier formed the backbone of Leycett’s 190-7 from their 40 overs.
Felsinger hit 13 fours in his unbeaten 94, receiving support from Josh Mackintosh (22), Paul Mackintosh (15) and Martyn Smith (12no). Mountford claimed 3-11.
Matters were even closer at Whitmore as the home side defeated Checkley by three runs.
Ryan Roberts (37) and Bryson Bertoni (25) helped Whitmore to 155 all out. Ben Carrigan (4-27) and Blake Haddrell (3-41) took the bowling plaudits for Checkley.
Carrigan added 54 to his day’s exploits – hitting eight fours and one six – and Josh Stones chipped in with 26.
But Danyal Hussain’s 4-30, 3-13 from Amaan Tariq and Shikhar Tiwari’s 3-24 skittled the visitors for 152.
Audley banked the points from their home meeting with Little Stoke B.
Joe Gibson (40) and Dean Bamsey (29) were in good form for Audley as they amassed 147 all out in the first half of the afternoon.
Ben Mellor (18), Matthew Hammersley (16) and Amal Davis (14) also made decent impressions.
Justin Mountford scooped 4-25 for Little Stoke, while there were a couple of victims for Rishav Misra.
In reply, James Ecclestone plundered a 35-ball 69, which contained seven fours and four sixes.
Karl Harvey added 29 and Stuart Jones compiled an unbeaten 21, but it wasn’t enough as Little Stoke were dismissed for 133.
Muhammad Ismail (4-23) and Mellor (3-22) did the bulk of the damage.
Meakins had the better of their draw at Oakamoor.
Jack Hammond’s 94, which included seven fours and three sixes, plus 36 from Callum Wilshaw, guided Meakins to 197-7. Jack Palmer took two wickets.
Tom Hayes (43no), Harry Smith (27) and Freddie Wood (25) made impacts for Oakamoor on the resumption.
However, Ollie Radzins’ 5-36 and a couple fo wickets for Oscar Sockett left Oakamoor happy to settle for a draw on 137-8 at the close.
· CHEADLE eased to the Premier Division points against Bignall End.
Jack Degg and Sam Cliffe both made 65 – putting on 96 for the fifth wicket – as Cheadle reached 226-7 from their 40 overs.
Degg’s innings came off just 47 balls, featuring seven fours and three sixes, while Cliffe anchored matters, striking six boundaries in his 105-ball knock.
Joe Degg chipped in with 39, while there were a couple of wickets apiece for Aunn Shah and Khalid Mehmood. Bignall End slipped to 7-3 after tea and although Numaan Khan (48), Ali Shah (16) and Mehmood (12) rallied, they were bowled out for 103.
Sam Akram fronted the Cheadle bowling bid, taking 4-23, with Matthew Degg and Oliver Stokes sharing four wickets.
Little Stoke A won by six wickets at home against Barlaston.
Usman Younis and Atif Hussain helped themselves to 4-20 and 3-16 respectively to dismiss Barlaston for 73. Charlie Fisher and Ethan Squire both made 15.
Fraser Hall struck twice after tea, but Sohail Hussain’s unbeaten 48, plus 12 not out from Waqas Ahmed, steered Little Stoke to their target inside 17 overs.
Knypersley inched to a one-wicket home win against Alsager A.
Alsager were dismissed for 124 in the formative stages, in which Muhammad Ishaq (23) and Adil Javed (18) made the most progress with the bat.
Jacob Cumberbatch, Cameron Allen, Marcus Kiely, Dominic Cumberbatch and Oliver Lowe all took two wickets.
Knype’s run chase didn’t get off to the best of starts as they were reduced to 16-3.
However, Robert Whilding (34), Jonathon Cumberbatch (32) and Dominic Cumberbatch (11) turned the tables to seal a nerve-jangling victory for Knypersley.
Khalid Yousafzai claimed 4-31 and there were a couple of victims apiece for Javed and Ateeq Ur Rehman.
· HARRY Leath hit the ton trail in Onneley’s Division One win against Bagnall Norton thirds.
Leath finished on 121 not out, hitting 15 fours and two sixes, as Onneley piled up 269-2 declared from 37 overs.
He put on 136 for the first wicket with Mohammed Razaq, who made 54, which included nine boundaries.
Thomas Washington added an unbeaten 39 and Sohail Hussain chipped in with 27.
Neil Gilbert responded with 55, Brandon Missole weighed in with 41 and Matthew Kenvyn struck 24.
However, Mohammed Khalid’s 3-5, Arfan Mohammed’s 3-21 and a couple of wickets from Mohammed Sakandar, ensured Bagnall Norton were bowled out for 158.
Leek made home advantage count to defeat Porthill Park.
Ben Hilton (25) and Tom Grindey (22) made the most progress with the bat as Leek struck 118 all out on the board.
Harry Stubbs and James Cope claimed 3-12 and 3-15 respectively.
Ryan Nolan (25) and Ethan Plummer (21no) fronted the Porthill Park reply, but they fell short.
Brad Grindey was the star of the show, taking 5-22, and with Josh Woodcock claiming 3-15, Porthill Park fell to 87 all out.
Betley hung on for a draw on their visit to Moddershall & Oulton Sport Asia.
They were chasing 203 for victory, but it soon became apparent that a draw would be their best hope.
Lewis Clarke hit nine fours and one six in his 65 and Alan Clarke added 20, as Betley drew stumps on 134-9.
Mohammad Nadim captured 3-17 and there were two wickets for Imran Khan.
· IN Section A North, Bignall End fourths won a thrilling clash with Alsager B by three runs.
Michael Heath’s 54 not out, which contained six fours and one six, plus 31 from Majid Hussain, enabled Bignall End to find their way to 166-6 from their 40 overs. Joshua Khan took two wickets.
Alan Stancliffe compiled 51 after tea, receiving support from Haroon Khan (24) and Joshua Khan (22).
However, double strikes from Manazeer Ashan Nawaz and Jamie Heath left Alsager all out for 163.
Cheadle seconds pocketed a six-wicket win at Leycett fourths.
Leycett put 136-8 on the board early on as Finley Waterhouse top-scored with 41 not out and James Hopkin made 22.
Louie Welford (3-21) and Alfie Bonehill (3-26) did the damage with the ball.
Bonehill then led the Cheadle reply as he struck 65, featuring 10 fours, while Lee Pinches followed his example with an unbeaten 53. He hit seven boundaries.
Finlay Cookson snared a couple of victims for Leycett, but Cheadle managed to find their way over the line.
Sandyford defeated Endon in their meeting. Liam Cope (23no) and Sam MacCambridge (22) were the main men with the bat as Sandyford progressed to 131-7. William Blainey scooped 3-22 and Dako Vujcic struck twice.
Lewis Hamnett caressed four fours and one six in his 53 not out on the resumption, but Endon were dismissed for 102.
Mark Stanway took 3-3, with four wickets being shared by Zac Hallam and Freddie Turner.
· STONE SP seconds made it two ties in three Section A South matches in their clash with Caverswall.
The seconds had already tied with their firsts this season – and repeated the feat in Sunday’s home clash.
Visitors Caverswall posted 132-6 thanks to Andy Hopwood’s 31, Sam Wainwright’s 25 and 22 from Chris Ball. Daniel Cox claimed 4-32.
Ben Cox (40) and Kaif Khan (30) led the Stone SP seconds reply, but they were bowled out for 132 as Lewis Wright helped himself to 4-17 and Daniel Grace picked up 3-29.
Stone SP firsts banked the points on their trip to Barlaston fourths.
Gareth Davies’ 42 was backed up by Robert Pochwyt’s 36, to lead Stone SP to 166 all out. Lewis Carter and Keelan Hughes took 3-38 and 3-39 respectively.
Barlaston were 23-1 at one stage of their reply, but soon found themselves 52 all out as Joel Davies claimed a superb 7-22.
Mikey Jones lent support with two wickets, while James Betteley top-scored with 20.
Eccleshall and Meir Heath drew their encounter.
Amarjeet Johol’s 40 was backed up by Matthew Bramall (27), Lawrence O’Donnell (19) and Steve Hewett (18) in Eccleshall’s 145 all out.
Luke Evans scooped 5-19, with Joshua Ash striking twice.
Alex Quaintance (44) and Daniel hussain (35) starred after tea, but Meir Heath had to be content with a share of the spoils as they closed on 124-9.
Jonathan Bramall scuppered Meir Heath’s hopes of victory by finishing with 4-13.
· BAGNALL Norton fourths inched to a four-run home victory over Longton in Section B North.
Paul Tomkinson (30) and Bradley Morris (23) made the most progress with the bat in Bagnall Norton’s 121 all out.
Longton produced a united bowling effort as Zoheb Ishfaq, James Degg, Ahmed Akram and Talal Rana all claimed two wickets.
Lee Ridgway (27), Steve Degg (24), Byran Cotton (23) and Ishfaq (21) starred after tea, but it wasn’t enough for Longton as they were bowled out for 117.
Alex Dodd was the star turn with the ball for Bagnall Norton, scooping 5-15, and the pressure was also applied by Ian Clowes (3-28).
Burslem won by five wickets at home against Whitmore seconds.
Sameera Mudiyanselage made 18 and Harry Tweats added 14, but Whitmore could only muster 71 as Rafi Alam snared 4-21 and Muhammad Iftikhar contributed 3-16. Farhan Ismail then made 38 as Burslem overhauled their rivals in the 19th over.
Kidsgrove romped to a nine-wicket home win against Haslington.
James Green and Dharmaraj Ramanthan claimed 3-16 and 3-28 respectively to instigate Haslington’s downfall to 75 all out. Freddie Taylor top-scored with 28.
Kane Lowton’s unbeaten 40 led Grove to a comfortable success.
Holmes Chapel won by the same margin at Wood Lane.
David Steer (4-20) and Miles Whitmore (3-17) were in sparkling form to skittle Wood Lane for 94, despite Alfie Brown’s 26.
Ollie Dale (44no) and Nick Birks (39) soon had Holmes Chapel celebrating an easy afternoon.
· HENRY Hine hit a century in Norton in Hales’ Section B South win at home against Wedgwood.
Hine’s 113, which contained 12 fours and one six, powered Norton in Hales to 245 all out.
He put on 154 for the first wicket with Gary Rudd, who chipped in with 48.
Wedgwood kept battling away as Simon Adams took 4-38 and Dom Marsh picked up 3-30.
Fida Ahmed (25) and Theo Lees (16) spent time at the crease in reply, but Nav Hans’ 4-28 and 3-3 from Tom Storey, dismissed Wedgwood for 55.
Penkridge eased to a nine-wicket win at home against Moddershall & Oulton seconds.
Luis Sturgess (3-23) and two wickets apiece from Jack Pope and Benji Lawrence, left the Modd men all out for 103.
Callum Morrell then hit three fours and eight sixes in a rapid 75 not out – and Will Hartwell lent support with 24 – as Penkridge cruised past the post.
Blythe won by five wickets at Uttoxeter.
Uttoxeter could only post 89 all out as Bilal Iftacar took 3-7 and Adnan Ali captured 3-2.
Qmer Khan and Zohaib Ali weighed in with 21 and 18 not out respectively to secure the spoils for Blythe.
Hanford had a fine day on the road as they won at Church Eaton.
Uttam Das (38) and Kasim Ahmed (21) made the most significant impacts in Hanford’s 144 all out. Douglas Hughes helped himself to 3-25.
Edward Matthews top-scored with 33 in Church Eaton’s chase, but Das’ 4-24 and 3-15 from Zahid Ashiq left them all out for 117.
