A man has admitted to indecently dealing with a 12-year-old girl at the derelict Batavia Motor Inne.
George Edward Albert Windie, 39, appeared in Geraldton Magistrates Court via video link from Hakea Prison on Thursday, when he pleaded guilty to two charges of indecently dealt with a child under 13 in circumstances of aggravation.
The court was previously told how Windie and co-accused, Chad James Broad, took a 12-year-old girl who was intoxicated to a room at the abandoned motel on March 15.
It is alleged that Windie had groped the girl before she was sexually penetrated twice by the co-accused.
Windie’s lawyer told the court that he had allegedly groped the child over her bra and not under the bra that was originally stated.
While in court, Windie also pleaded guilty for charges relating back to December 2022, including failing to provide personal details, driving a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, driving without authority and obstructing public officers.
Bail was not considered and Windie will reappear in the magistrates court on September 6 before appearing in District Court on September 7.
During his last court appearance last month, Mr Broad’s bid for bail was denied. The court was told Mr Broad had made full admissions to police after he was arrested, telling police “one thing led to another”.
He has not yet entered any pleas and been remanded in custody to face court again in August.
The latest incident at the abandoned motel comes after Victorian man James Sbresni was jailed for five years for raping a 14-year-old girl at the site in June 2021, and Norman Trevor Gilbert pleaded guilty to one charge of raping a woman there in December 2022, while denying another charge of the same offence.
