A man caught travelling 144km/h in a 100km/h zone was among more than 80 drivers busted speeding in Geelong over the weekend.
Officers allege the 24-year-old Wodonga man was detected speeding on Saturday along the Princes Highway in Norlane.
He was charged and bailed to appear in Wodonga court in September.
A 52-year-old Ocean Grove man was also fined $786 and lost his licence for six months after he was spotted travelling at 144km/h in a 100km/h along the Bellarine Highway on the same day.
Police said the two men were among more than 80 drivers allegedly nabbed speeding across Geelong roads on Saturday.
Senior Sergeant Craig Stevens said Geelong Highway Patrol officers were left disappointed in the high number of offences after a statewide day of action.
The operation was part of National Road Safety Week, with police specifically tasked to detect speeding motorists in a 24-hour road safety blitz.
Sen Sgt Stevens said six units were positioned at major roads across Geelong, the Surf Coast and Bellarine, with 56 drivers caught travelling 10 km/h – 25 km/h over the limit.
“It was pretty disappointing to be honest.” he said.
“A good day out for us is no tickets and no people speeding.
“This was a bad day when we detect that many people disregarding the speed limits. It was astonishing, really.”
Three driving offences were detected out for motorists speeding at more than 25 km/h, along with one motorcyclist. Three drivers were nabbed using their phone while driving and two cars were impounded.

During the blitz, which involved six cars from Geelong and three highway patrol vehicles, police issued 83 infringements.
Sen Sgt Stevens said excessive or inappropriate speed had been a suspected factor in at least 31 per cent of fatal collisions on Victorian roads this year.
“Speed is the number one cause of road trauma,” he said.
“We had a lot of units out and this was fairly significant.
