A six-year-old boy is being treated in a Melbourne hospital after being struck by a car in Corio.
Paramedics were called to Erica Avenue in Corio about 4.15pm on Wednesday after the collision.
Police were also called to the scene shortly after.
A spokeswoman from the Royal Children’s Hospital told the Geelong Advertiser on Friday morning the child is in a stable condition.
An Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said they responded to the potentially critical situation after receiving a Triple Zero call.
“Paramedics were called to an incident in Corio at around 4:20pm yesterday,” she said.
“A child with an upper body injury has been taken to Royal Children’s Hospital in a stable condition.”
Two ambulance units and a police vehicle attended the scene before the child was rushed to Melborrne.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman said it’s believed the boy ran out onto the road on the quiet suburban street when he was struck by the car just before 4.30pm.
“The driver stopped at the scene and assisted the child,” she said.
The boy is expected to remain at the Melbourne hospital today for precautionary reasons.
His injuries are not life-threatening.
