Work on Win Construction’s game-changing commercial and apartment complex in Hervey Bay is expected to start in late 2023.
The major overhaul of Hervey Bay’s CBD is continuing with a new multi-storey development being given the go ahead by the region’s council.
Win Constructions has been given the green light from Fraser Coast Regional Council to build the complex, which will sit at Pialba on the intersection of the Esplanade and Main St, opposite Seafront Oval.
Called Sirius, it will include a restaurant with outdoor dining, a reception area, indoor gym and open terraced pool.
The building’s nine apartments will each cover one floor.
Each unit will have three balconies and offer 360-degree views of the coast and city up to Point Vernon.
An office building located on the block will be torn down to make way for the development.
Once finished the building will be among the tallest in the city, although in 2021 the council gave approval for a 16-storey tower to be built at Watson’s St, Pialba, west of Sirius.
Win Constructions director Glen Winney, who has owned the block since 2013, said Sirius would help bring “up-market” businesses to the city.

Mr Winney said the hope was for construction on the building to start “before the end of the year”.
This would allow the development to coincide with the long-awaited facelift of the city centre, which would include outdoor dining, more high rise apartments and an improved transport network catering to cyclists and pedestrians.
