THIS year’s seventh annual Yeppoon Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride to raise funds for Prostate Cancer and Men’s mental health research will have over 60 participants take to their bikes in their best attire this Sunday, to raise funds for the cause and they are calling for more riders.
Yeppoon ride Coordinator Jason Murphy said on the day, distinguished gentleman and ladies from across the region, riding their classic, vintage and other motorcycles will wear their best attire and ride the Capricorn Coastline.
“This year we have already raised over $10,000 which is a champion effort for our small group,” Mr Murphy said.
“We began with 30 riders and passengers in 2017, and the number of participants has been growing every year.
“Once again we are putting the call out to invite more people to come along and join the fun.
“On Sunday 21 May we will start from Yeppoon Railway station at 9am and make our way along the Coast. We will stop at Emu Park RSL before heading back along the Coastline to the Capricorn Tavern.
“The day is always a lot of fun and an opportunity to catch up with old friends while meeting new friends along the way.”
The ride was originally all about raising funds for Prostate Cancer then in 2016 fundraising for Mental Health was incorporated into the ride after one of the ride hosts was lost due to depression.
The ride itself is free, they do however encourage those riding to donate to the cause as well as helping to reach the fundraising goals by getting friends, family and colleagues to donate via each rider’s personal fundraising page.
Over 100,000 riders across 100 countries and 800 cities, will all be riding on the same day for the cause.
Riders are encouraged to dress to the nines with tailored suits, crisp shirts and ties.
They are also asked to bring along their finest manners, neatest facial foliage and a sense of fun.
