A house has been left severely damaged following an early morning fire that left dozens of homes without power. Crews from Nuneaton and Coventry stations raced to the scene in Keresley End earlier this morning (June 12).
Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service (WFRS) confirmed to CoventryLive that a 999 call was made just after 5.10am to report the huge blaze. When firefighters arrived they found the house completely engulfed in smoke.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident and West Midlands Ambulance Service were not called to the scene. But, as a result, National Grid reported that 61 homes in the CV7 8JN and CV7 8JP were left without power for several hours.
The power has since been restored to the homes. Investigations are now ongoing into the cause of the blaze.
A Warwickshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: “At 05:11 Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service was called to a fire house on Keresley End in Coventry. Two crews from Nuneaton Fire Station and one from West Midlands Fire Service attended, and on arrival crews found fire on the ground floor with approximately 100% smoke damage.
“The firefighters used four breathing apparatus, hose reel jet, a small and a gear to extinguish the fire. At the end the crew ventilated the property and National Grid was informed. The fire was extinguished, and the crews were at the scene for more than two hours. Finally, National Grid isolated electrics.”
