Upper Dublin’s 4×800 relay followed up its District 1-3A Title with a silver medal at the PIAA Championships.
The foursome of Mimi Pastore, Lilly Pittakas, Mason Kullmann and Talia Hoffner combined their efforts for a time of 9 minutes, 10.19 seconds.
Two other area squads also found their way to the medal stand.
Pennridge’s Nora Ritting, Ava Pultorak, Kaegan Smith and Ashley Landis grabbed the bronze medal, finishing in 9:16.82. Also, Central Bucks West’s foursome of Abigail Kolbe, Claire Dalsass, Maile McFadden and Mimi Duffy pushed to a 9:22.80, good for eighth place.
La Salle finishes strong — The Explorers’ 4×800 relay made it a memorable afternoon at Shipp, as a foursome of Luke Seweryn, Cameron Mehallo, Drew Brill and Ryan McGinley came together for a fourth-place finish in 7:50.60.
Duffy does it again — Central Bucks West’s Mimi Duffy capped a tremendous postseason in the 400, surging to a bronze medal in 55.12 seconds.
Medals mount for Magic — Mount St. Joe’s had a big weekend, led by distance ace Ella Woehlcke.
She raced to third in the 1,600 in 4:50.79 on Friday and then followed that up by earning a silver in the 800 on Saturday in 2:09.26.
In that same race, Archbishop Wood’s Gwen Hamilton was third (2:10.34) and Hatboro-Horsham’s Emily Simko fourth (2:10.47).
Also for Mount, Veronica Vacca cleared 13-3 in the pole vault for second on Friday.
Field of dreams — Pennridge’s Jared Hess threw 45-8.75 for third place in the triple jump on Friday and Methacton’s Summer Mellow jumped to third place in the long on Saturday, with a mark of 18-3.75.
Both capped their seasons in impressive fashion.
Trophies go to — The Central Columbia (2A) and Haverford (3A) girls earned team titles as did the Danville (2A) and Chambersburg (3A) boys squads.
