WATCH: farmer David shares his feelings for Emily on Farmer Wants a WIfe.
Farmer Wants a Wife’s final two leading men made their heartfelt declarations, but will love be enough to hold the couples together?
Brad and Brenton closed out the 13th season of Australia’s Farmer Wants a Wife with their final pledges of love on May 21 .
This season boasts five happy couples but some concerns remain for the farmers hoping their relationships will withstand the isolation of rural life.
Brad and Brenton will join fellow farmers David, Andrew and Matt and their love-matches for a show reunion on May 22 at 7pm.
Farmer Brad and Clare
Farmer Brad knows the country lifestyle doesn’t suit everyone and his “biggest” fear is being alone and “heartbroken again”. It’s not the first time the farm has driven a wedge between he and his partner.
After meeting Morgan’s family in Newcastle, Farmer Brad’s concerns about the couple’s long-term prospects were echoed by her mother.
“Just by looking at her, I can tell she’s happy, which is wonderful. I’m curious to see how they plan on maintaining their relationship,” Morgan’s mother said.
Farmer Brad decided his feelings towards Morgan were platonic and said his goodbyes.
The 32 year-old crop and cattle farmer visited Clare’s tight-knit family in Tamworth, NSW and saw how apprehensive they were about her move to the farm.
“The thought of falling in love and it not working out is something that’s constantly on my mind,” he said.
But he summoned his courage and declared his love for Clare saying “we’re made of the same stuff, we love each other – let’s make it work”.
“Pack your horses, pack your dogs,” he said.
Through tears and laughter Clare said “I have fallen so in love with you Brad.”
The couple decided to continue the relationship after filming for the show ends.
Farmer Brenton and Sophie
The decision to send Rachel home weighed heavily on country-music loving cattle farmer Brenton.
“It’s horrible to make someone feel like that, to actually break a girl’s heart. I’ve never been in that position before,” he said.
Brenton said he “can definitely see a future with Rachel” but chose instead to confess his love to Sophie.
“I’ve never felt like this with anyone, and we’ve so many memories and I can’t wait to take you back to the farm. You’re the most beautiful girl I’ve ever met. I’m falling in love with you,” he said to Sophie.
The couple is planning to continue their relationship after the season concludes but Brenton harbours concerns Sophie isn’t prepared for the challenges of farm life.
“It’s all bells and whistles at the moment but to be married to a farmer, it’s a different world. Reality will set in,” Sophie’s mother Robyn said.
Farmer Matt and Olivia
The fifth-generation sheep and cattle farmer was ready to stop grazing and settle down with Olivia.
“I think I’ve known for a while that I have fallen in love with you, and I’m really glad I finally get to say it,” he said to Olivia in part one of the season finale.
The tough decision meant saying goodbye to Annabelle. Farmer Matt said her reluctance to communicate was the final blow to their courtship.
Farmer David and Emily
Farmer David faced a difficult decision choosing between Lorelei and Emily.
“I’m faced with the situation where I can see a pretty happy future with both the girls,” he said.
The 29 year-old apple farmer followed his heart and pledged his love for Emily after visiting her parents in Brisbane.
Farmer Andrew and Claire
Claire stared at the ground while Farmer Andrew found the words to explain his love for her.
“Those days when I was away, I realised I missed seeing you and was looking forward to seeing you again,” he said.
“My feelings have changed and as time was shared with you. Claire, I’m falling in love with you,” he said.
The pair has continued their relationship after the cameras stopped rolling.
