A popular living room item has been recalled amid fears it could cause serious injury and lacerations.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission issued a recall notice earlier this month for the “Eyecandy Ottoman Round” which was sold by retailer Fantastic Furniture for almost a year.
The plush household item was pulled from shelves after causing injury to customers, according to the notice.
“The metal banding on the ottoman may have sharp edges,” the notice stated.
“There is a risk of serious injury, including lacerations, if consumers come in contact with the metal banding.”
The ottoman was sold nationally at Fantastic Furniture stores and online between June 2019 and May 2021.
It was available in black and mulberry and is disguisable by its gold banding at the base.
Anyone who purchased an impacted ottoman in either colour is urged to stop using it immediately.
Customers are encouraged to return it to Fantastic Furniture for a full refund.
“When returning the product, consumers should avoid handling the area around the metal band,” the notice stated.
“Otherwise, they should wear protective gear to protect themselves from risk of injury.”
