The warpaint of the Supercheap Auto wildcard Camaro to be led by Bathurst legend Craig Lowndes will be unveiled in front of the fans this Saturday.
At Maritime Green Northshore from 5pm AEST fans will be able to get the first glimpse of the third Supercheap Auto Triple Eight Race Engineering wildcard to be shared by Lowndes and Zane Goddard at the iconic Sandown 500 and Bathurst 1000 races.
The #888 Lowndes and Goddard wildcard was announced back in January by AUTO ACTION with a mockup design of the Supercheap Auto Camaro.
But at function in Hamilton, Queensland, fans will be able to see the real thing and will not only will the wildcard drivers be front and centre, it will also feature full-time stars Broc Feeney, Shane van Gisbergen, plus seven-time champion Jamie Whincup.
Fans will be able to meet and interact with their heroes with giveaways and autographs on offer.
The 2023 campaign marks the third Supercheap Auto Triple Eight wildcard campaign in as many years.
In 2021 current Triple Eight full-time driver Broc Feeney shared a #39 ZB Commodore with veteran Russell Ingall. The pair qualified 15th, but were a late-race retirement.
Last year Lowndes brought the famous #888 to the Supercheap Auto stable to take on Bathurst with Declan Fraser.
The pair stayed out of trouble throughout the chaotic wet-dry 161-lap race to record a solid P8 finish, the best ever for a Bathurst wildcard.
This year the seven-time Great Race winner will be paired by former full-time Matt Stone Racing driver Zane Goddard.
Goddard jumps on board after driving alongside James Courtney in the #5 Tickford Mustang at Bathurst last year.
The 23-year-old hopes to remind the world of his capabilities after being involved in the multi-car crash at The Chase at Turn 4 last year.
However, Goddard has returned to racing this year, having competed the opening round of the 2023 S5000 season and will be determined to make an impact come endurance season for the Supercheap Auto Camaro.
The event will run from 4-7pm AEST at Binote St Hamilton and mark the start of the #888 car’s journey with test days to follow before the big races at Sandown and Bathurst later in the year.
