Cameron Waters will race with a slightly brighter Monster Mustang than usual at the Supercars Indigenous Round in Darwin.
The Darwin Triple Crown at Hidden Valley Raceway celebrates the culture of First Nations people and to mark the occasion some extra colour has been added to the #6.
For the last seven years Waters has carried a near identical livery, but in round 5 the standard black and Monster Energy stickers have some company.
Light and dark green streaks have been included to the bonnet and the rear quarter panels, while the bottom of the car is covered by a stroking green, white and black pattern.
Much like Declan Fraser’s car, the livery has been designed by Cairns artist Jedess Hudson, who used Waters’ hometown Mildura and the driver’s name itself as inspiration.
“Water also holds deep cultural and spiritual meaning for many Indigenous peoples,” she said.
“It represents life, purity and regeneration. By incorporating the element of water into the artwork the team is paying tribute to the region and traditional owners of the land.”
Tickford Racing CEO Tim Edwards said the Supercars Indigenous Round is a powerful thing to be part of.
“We believe in the power of sport to bring people together and celebrate diversity,” he said.
“Through the liveries we are taking to Darwin on each of our cars, we aim to foster greater understanding and appreciation for the culture and history of Australia’s First Nations.”
After fighting hard in Tasmania, Waters hopes to the new livery can push him to a strong result at Darwin,
Despite Triple Eight’s opening race disqualification at Newcastle was the scene of Waters’ only podium is far in 2023.
However, he has still pushed his Ford Mustang to the ragged edge and been a consistent fighter to sit sixth in the standings and head to Darwin as one of the “Blue Oval’s” major hopes.
