Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has audiences flocking to the comics to dive further into all the Multiversal adventures Spider-Man and the crew have embarked on. While there are plenty of one-shot comics that delve into the Spider-Verse, there are a handful of larger events to enjoy.
These larger Spider-Verse storylines bring together the Spider-People of different worlds and pit them against a common enemy. The Marvel Unlimited App is the best place to find all of these narratives, which feature a familiar characters like Ghost-Spider and Miles Morales from Across the Spider-Verse.
8 Edge Of Spider-Verse (2014)
A prelude of sorts to the main event, Edge of Spider-Verse kicked off the Spider-Verse narrative by focusing on different characters from across the Multiverse. With each issue shining the spotlight elsewhere, it introduced the audience to plenty of new and returning heroes who would play a role in the upcoming conflict.
The Edge of Spider-Verse series was a mini-event that sowed the seeds for future conflict. It’s best to start with at the beginning, where readers meet Spider-Man Noir. However, #2 (by Jason Latour, Robbi Rodriguez, Rico Renzi, and Clayton Cowles) famously introduced Spider-Gwen for the first time, a character whose role in the Spider-Verse is integral. Edge of Spider-Verse has also been collected into a single graphic novel.
7 Spider-Verse (2014-2015)
The Spider-Verse event which really kicked off the hit concept was Dan Slott’s narrative that featured Morlun and The Inheritors as antagonists. Immediately increasing the stakes, Morlun killed Spider-Man, consequently erasing Spider-Man’s universe.
The Spider-Verse event ran across the main Amazing Spider-Man run and also featured tie-in series with the likes of the Scarlet Spider and Spider-Man 2099. It was a huge spectacle that featured Spider-heroes from across the Multiverse as they partnered to defeat The Inheritors. The best place to start is with The Amazing Spider-Man (Vol. 3) #9 by Dan Slott, Olivier Coipel, Justin Ponsor, and Chris Eliopoulos.
6 Secret Wars (2015)
The Secret Wars narrative was an attempt to restyle the original Marvel event, with a new, modern angle. Of course, Spider-Man played into that narrative. Considering the importance of the Spider-Verse to the Multiverse, it made sense Marvel created a mini-event that acted as a Spider-Verse sequel.
The Secret Wars spinoff began with Spider-Verse (Vol.2) #1 from Mike Costa, André Lima Araújo, Rachelle Rosenberg, and Joe Caramagna. The comic series included a group of Spider-People who were left on Battleworld with the likes of Spider-Man India, Spider-Gwen, Spider-Ham, and Spider-Man Noir along for the ride. This limited series is action-packed and features some fantastic Multiverse interactions.
5 Edge Of Spider-Geddon (2018)
Edge of Spider-Geddon was a mini-event and comic series designed to remind fans of forgotten Spider-Man allies. Much like Edge of Spider-Verse, the anthology laid the groundwork for the upcoming Spider-Geddon event while focusing on a few specific characters.
Edge of Spider-Geddon has four parts, and it makes sense to start with #1 from Jed MacKay, Gerardo Sandoval, Brian Reber, and Cory Petit. The series includes Spider-Punk, the duo of Spider-Ben and Petey, and a Norman Osborn Spider-Man variant. It’s an imaginative run that somehow opens up the Spider-Verse even further. A Superior Octopus spinoff was also a part of the Edge of Spider-Geddon event.
4 Spider-Geddon (2018)
Christos Gage and Jorge Molina spearheaded Spider-Geddon, a spiritual sequel to Spider-Verse that brought back many fan-favorite Spider-Man variants. The event also brought back the Inheritors, who had escaped their fate from the previous event and sought to decimate the Spider army once more.
Spider-Geddon’s start can be traced to Spider-Geddon #0 (Christos N. Gage, Clayton Crain, and Travis Lanham), which famously included a comic book appearance from the Spider-Man PS4 version of Spider-Man. Tie-ins include Spider-Girls, Ghost-Spider, Superior Spider-Man, and Spider-Force.
3 Edge Of Spider-Verse (2022)
Just like the original Edge of Spider-Verse, the most recent mini-event of the same name is much larger in its scope. The anthology series includes a couple of different Spider-People per issue and has a central narrative tying it together: the invasion of the Wasps.
Edge of Spider-Verse leads directly into End of The Spider-Verse, and is helmed by a huge array of writers and artists. A true team effort, this anthology boasts characters like Spider-Man Noir, Web-Weaver, Spider-Man, Sun-Spider, and a T-Rex variant. It centers on the newer custodians of the Spider-Verse, attempting to solve why the Web of Life is beginning to unravel.
2 End Of The Spider-Verse (2022)
The End of the Spider-Verse picks up where Edge of Spider-Verse (2022) left off and focuses on a threat unlike anything the Spider heroes have faced before. The wasp deity Shathra has been infecting different Spider heroes and controlling them. Shocking readers, the event kicks off with a bang by removing Spider-Woman (Jessica Drew) from the Web of Life.
End of the Spider-Verse shows off Spider-Man’s greatest secret weapon: his friends. With a huge roster of characters, the narrative begins with Spider-Man (Vol. 4) #1 by Dan Slott, Mark Bagley, John Dell, Edgar Delgado, and Joe Caramagna. The story is integral to the Spider-Verse lore moving forward and once again sees Morlun heavily involved in the conflict.
1 Spider-Verse Unlimited Infinity Comic (2022-)
Spider-Verse Unlimited Infinity Comic is an ongoing digital comic on Marvel Unlimited that acts as a mini Spider-Verse continuation. It’s an anthology book that features plenty of different Earths and their respective Spider-People. However, team-ups are sure to occur, since Marvel’s Multiverse stories almost always include crossovers.
Spider-Verse Unlimited features all the favorites, from Spider-Gwen to Spider-Ham and even the Aunt May variant Spider-Ma’am. Anthony Piper, Bruno Oliveira, Pete Pantazis, and Joe Sabino kick off proceedings with #1. It’s important to note that this is a digital exclusive and can only be accessed through the app. One notable antagonist is Anansi, the spider god heavily entrenched in Spider-Man’s lore.
