TYLER Everingham has made a mid-season team change in a bid to get his maiden National Trans Am campaign on track.
Everingham was a key addition to the 2023 field, bringing experience as a two-time Bathurst 1000 starter and a Super2 race winner.
However, his season has not panned out as hoped thus far, with reliability issues leaving him just 17th in the standings.
Ahead of Round 3 at Winton, Everingham has traded his Dream Racing Australia Camaro for The Racing Academy’s #29 Mustang.
That means Everingham effectively replaces Jaylyn Robotham, who yesterday tested with Supercars team Matt Stone Racing.
Robotham will sit out the Winton round (June 9-11) but may return to Trans Am later in the season.
“I had a test day in the new car and I was happy and really comfortable,” said Everingham, who will drive for Tickford Racing this Supercars endurance season.
“It’s a new challenge, it’s a bit of a different driving style in these cars but it’s all a learning curve and I am looking forward to getting back into it at Winton.
“It’s looking like there could be rain, it’s all an unknown at this point but I’m comfortable in mixed conditions and I might even be doing a little bit of a rain dance.”
The identity of Everingham’s replacement at DRA is not yet clear, with ‘TBC’ listed next to the #27 for now.
Nash Morris, the star of Round 2 at Phillip Island, has been confirmed for another start at Winton. He is also competing in the TA2 Muscle Car Series this weekend at Queensland Raceway.
James Moffat leads the points from Garry Rogers Motorsport teammate Lochie Dalton.
