TROY Alumni Association’s Emerald Coast Chapter has raised more than $18,000 for scholarships through its 26th Annual TROY Alumni Scholarship Golf Tournament.
With more than 150 members, the chapter provides three scholarships – last year totaling some $16,000 – to students from Walton, Okaloosa and South Santa Rosa counties in Florida. The Emerald Coast TROY Alumni and Friends Scholarship provides $1,500 – $3,000 for incoming freshmen, and two endowed scholarships provide funding on a competitive basis for returning students.
“We believe in ‘One TROY,’ therefore we are family in a sense. All 150 chapter members, our board of directors and all of our sponsors and local alumni are in this for one reason — to help local students attend Troy University,” said Joe Judkins, who serves as chapter president.
“Our scholarships are designed to ignite their flame to attend TROY and to help keep that flame lit by being able to continue to help as they trek through their TROY journey with our endowed scholarship efforts,” he said.
This year, some 102 golfers participated in the tournament, and Judkins pointed to the corporate sponsors in making the tournament and the scholarships it funds successful.

Originally played in Crestview at the old Foxwood Golf Club, the tournament’s home has been at Fort Walton Beach Municipal Golf Course since 2000. To learn more about the club, visit them on the web or find them on Facebook.
