There are eight dogs currently at Cotswold Dogs and Cats Home that have, through no fault of their own, fallen on hard times and lost their families. Now these brave pups and pooches are looking for their next big friend to take them on walks, give them a scratch behind their ear, and be their forever family.
If you have space in your home and heart for yet another furry friend, or are looking to get your first dog and want to rescue your canine companion, perhaps “small but mighty” Benny the Yorkie could be your next four-legged friend, or Thor, the young Romanian Labrador cross that had a tough start but wants a bright future – with plenty of toys in it.
Anyone that would like to adopt any of these dogs will have to fill out a “Perfect Match” form and have a home visit from the animal shelter to ensure that each one of these pooches is going to a good home. Once a canine companion has been found, the Cotswold Dogs and Cats Home will expect any adopters to return and build a bond with their new friend before they can be introduced to the final forever home.

If successful there is an adoption fee of £350 for dogs. You can find out more about the adoption process on the CDCH website.
Benny
Introducing Benny, the 4kg Yorkie, who’s big personality outweighs his body weight.
Benny may be small, but don’t allow his size to fool you, as he’s still an incredibly active chap that enjoys frequent countryside walks along with training and play sessions! He will require a home that has plenty of time to dedicate to exercise and training as he loves to learn and please.
Benny has shown resource guarding behaviours over his bed/area where he rests which will need to be managed within the home. Due to this behaviour, Benny will only be able to be rehomed to a quiet adult only home with minimal comings and goings.
Coal
Cheeky chappy Coal is searching for his forever home!
Coal is keen to greet people with a wriggle bum and a face kiss which proves his gentle and loving nature towards people! He has been eager to seek human companionship here at the centre so would thrive in a home that can offer him plenty of affection and companionship. Coal has previously lived with young children, due to this, we would consider children of 10 years + in the home.
As he is a French Bulldog, he does struggle with lengthy exercise and hot weather, because of this he would be best suited to a calm home who enjoy gentle strolls. Even though Coal can struggle with large amounts of exercise, this doesn’t stop him from enjoying the sights, sounds and smells on quiet countryside walks
Foster appeal – Layla
Leyla is an adorable 7 month old pocket American Bulldog pup, who is looking for a nurturing and loving foster home.
She has not had the best start, so can be a little unsure of new things and would like an understanding and calm temporary home with someone who is around for a most of the day to help teach her the ropes. She can be a typical pup, and does sometimes display mouthing behaviours, so adult only or children from 14 years upwards would be considered.
If you live within 30 minutes of the centre and feel you have the time and love to give a young dog, let us know by filling out a form below, stating Foster in the details:
Missy
Missy has unfortunately experienced a traumatic past up until she arrived at CDCH, but she hasn’t allowed this to stop her making new loving relationships with the staff here at the centre. Her confidence and personality has shone through each week, and she’s now showing us all the cheeky EBT traits that we know and love!
She can be wary and untrusting of new people initially so will thrive in a home that can provide her with a quiet and safe environment with minimal visitors. She is quick to build a relationship so long as the person is confident, respectful and has a supply of tasty treats! Her adopter(s) will need to be committed to multiple viewings at the centre to build a strong relationship with her.
No toy is safe when Missy is around as her faviourite activity is to play with and destroy toys! She will thrive in a home that has the time to provide her with lots of physical and mental stimulation as she loves being on the go
Pebbles
Although she may look full grown, at only 7 months old, she is still a young pup with a little more growing to do and much more to learn. Pebbles is a playful girl with all the energy you would expect of a young dog, so a family who can keep up with her will be essential!
She has a super friendly nature, but due to her rocky start, still has a tendency to mouth, so although a home with teenage children will be considered, they will need to be dog savvy and confident with excitable and boisterous behaviours, as she does often forget her size and strength. She would thrive in a home with lots of room to run and plenty of opportunities to explore the outdoors.
As well as adventures, Pebbles loves her humans and is often quite demanding of fuss, so needs teaching that she cannot be the centre of attention at all times!
Thor
Thor has had an unsettled start to his short life, originating from Romania, he has now landed himself in the care of CDCH and is looking for his forever home.
He has built some great relationships with staff here at the centre, giving them lots of affection and enjoying cuddles on the sofa when he gets the chance. On arrival, it was quite obvious that he has struggled to adapt to a busy life in the UK, but now comfortable with his surroundings at the centre, his true personality has started to come through, with his playful, clumsy and goofy nature providing daily entertainment for his handlers.
Although Thor loves the company and fuss of his human friends, he does find meeting new people a little worrying and needs time to be able to get to know them at his own pace. His new owners will need to attend the centre for multiple visits to build a bond with him before he can go home.
Tia
Being an American Bulldog, she is a big girl weighing in at 34kg, but this just gives you more to love, as she a super softy at heart, always enjoying love and fuss from her human friends and greeting them with a waggy tail!
Although Tia is very affectionate, she can be a little shy of new people, so needs a gentle approach and reassurance to help her feel fully comfortable. Saying this, it doesn’t take her very long to build strong bonds and once she has made friends she will always be excited to see you!
Tia is a clever lady and has already shown us her ability to pick up on lots of general commands, such as sit, down, come and knows her name – this combined with her eagerness to please and her love for tasty treats, makes her very responsive to training, which due to her size, she would benefit from continuing in a home.
Yoko
Introducing Yoko, if he hasn’t got his head in a hole then he’s digging one!
This cheeky chap has plenty of personality and energy to match. He requires a home that can provide him with lots of outdoor activity as he has high energy levels and loves nothing more than an adventure. He will make the perfect companion for someone who spends more time outdoors than they do indoors! Yoko is incredibly clever and thrives when learning so will benefit from extra outlets like obedience training, agility or tracking.
He requires an adult only home, as he can be a typical tenacious terrier at times. He also takes time to form a bond and trust with new people, so his new owner(s) will need to be understanding of this and be committed to visiting the centre on a number of occasions to build a relationship. He will thrive in a home that is quiet and has minimal visitors as this will be a trigger for him.
Being a Jagdterrier, he has a very high prey drive meaning a home with small fury’s, livestock or cats would not be considered.
