In the news: New research is showing a very strong correlation between when you get diabetes and your chances of getting dementia later in life. Essentially, the research is showing that individuals diagnosed with diabetes at a younger age have a higher probability of experiencing dementia as they grow older.
This finding has direct implications for you in Georgia.

The research shows that those who are diagnosed with type 2 diabetes before their 60th birthday are three times more likely to develop dementia later in life.
The researchers noted that a large percentage of people who have prediabetes eventually go on to have diabetes. “In the USA, up to 96 million adults have prediabetes, accounting for 38% of the adult population.” This is huge!
The data posits that if we’re able to better control prediabetes and manage diabetes well, we could reduce the chances of people getting dementia later in their lives.
