Dubbo Regional Council (DRC) is excited to be hosting the 2023 NSW Junior Rugby Championships Under 14s event across the June Long weekend.
Held at Apex Oval the event, which has received a high-level of support from DRC, is expected to attract around 3000 players, supporters and officials to visit Dubbo over the three days.
“Hosting events such as the Junior Rugby Championships continues to highlight Dubbo’s reputation as a place that can hold high profile events as well as showcase Apex Oval as a premier sporting event venue in regional NSW,” Dubbo Regional Council Mayor Mathew Dickerson said.
“Families from throughout NSW will start arriving in the city on Friday with competition starting at Apex Oval on Saturday 10 June,” Clr Dickerson said.
“The event allows our community to witness some high-quality rugby here in our own backyard, as has been showcased over the past three years.
“We are proud to be able to support the Dubbo Junior Rugby Club and NSW Rugby in bringing this event once again to the Dubbo Region,” Clr Dickerson said.
The event is set to have a $1.8M economic impact with the state-level event attracting under 14 Boys and under 14 Girls representative teams.
Participating teams and their families are expected to travel from NSW Country Zones, Sydney Districts as well as the ACT and Melbourne.
The event has been held in Dubbo for the past three years and supported by sponsorship from Council’s Destination Events Fund – Stream 2.
The fund is used to attract and retain major event activity which delivers substantial economic benefits to the region.
