Dionne Warwick is not your peacemaker.
The legendary singer made it clear that she is steering away from the purported feud between musical icons Babyface and Anita Baker after being asked by comedian Lil Duval to “squash this baby face Anita baker beef for us please.” Warwick quote-tweeted the actor, writing, “Baby, that ain’t got nothing to do with me.”
Babyface and Baker made headlines this week after the latter announced that “After Silently, Enduring Cyber Bulling/Verbal Abuse & Threats of Violence from the Fan Base, of Our Special Guest Support Act [Babyface]. In the Interest of Personal Safety. I will continue, The Songstress Tour, alone.” Baker noted that “Appropriate refunds will be made.”
The harassment Baker mentioned appeared to stem from fans bothered by the “When Will I See You Again” singer’s title as a supporting act and not co-headliner on “The Songstress Tour.” Babyface later responded noting that he was “saddened” by the outcome, noting that “I have nothing but love & respect for Anita and I wish her the best for the remainder of her tour,” seemingly bringing an end to a rather brief battle.
Warwick has also been on the road and had to make adjustments after canceling a concert set for June 24 at Rivers Casino Des Plaines near Chicago due to a medical issue with one of her legs.
According to Rep for the 82-year-old singer who spoke to People, “It’s a minor issue that has been fixed, and she is fine.” The singer, however, does look forward to rescheduling.
