Dean ‘Deno from Reno’ Goss sadly and suddenly left us on December 8th 2022 in Sparks Nevada. If you knew Dean, you know he lived 100 years of life in the short 65 he was given. He was the life of every party, the friend you could always depend on, the biggest heart in the room, and was always cracking jokes, and leaving everyone with the biggest smile.
Dean was born to Bette and Rick Goss on June 29, 1957 in Sacramento California shortly before moving to, and growing up, in old Southwest Reno. Dean worked with the FDIC before working for American AgCredit where he fell in love with Northern Nevada. It was that love for Northern Nevada that helped him to establish a successful career as a realtor where he was able to spend his time showing off the town and area he was so fond of. He was passionate about giving back to the community, proudly serving on the Reno Planning Commission, being involved in the Reno Rotary Club, and fundraising for the local YMCA. Dean was also a member of Saint Anthony Greek Orthodox Church Order of Ahepa and the church choir.
His greatest pride and biggest joy were his family. He was actively involved in every endeavor his children decided to involved in. Everything from baseball coach to being a Y Indian Guide for both the Guides as well as the Princess Program and never missing a Friday father daughter lunch date. Welcoming his daughter-in-law and grandchildren, he said, made his life and family complete.
He is survived by his son, Greg (Cara) Goss, their children Gavin and Mackay and his daughter, Alexandria Goss, also known as “His Pal Al”. Big pieces of him are left behind in his loving family. Dean will be deeply missed and will surely hold a special place in our hearts forever. Whether you knew Dean as a Banker, Realtor, City Planner, Coach, Volunteer, or even as your local Bartender it didn’t take long for him to become a dear friend. His contagious smile will be missed by many people in all the very different walks of his life.
The family, and his beloved extended family at Casales Halfway Club will be holding a celebration of life for Dean on the 19th of May starting at 12:00 at the Club. Feel free to come and share your favorite story with the family and spend time with friends. Come by and grab a drink, roll some dice, and share a laugh the way Dean would have loved when he was still manning his post behind the bar
