David Raya has handed Tottenham a boost, with the £40 million-rated Spanish international prioritising joining the North London club.
According to reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, David Raya is prioritising joining Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window. And personal terms should not be an issue for either club. Meanwhile, Brentford will demand £40 million to part ways with the Spanish international.
David Raya has been one of the best goalkeepers on English soil throughout his professional career. The 27-year-old spent the early years of his playing days out of the spotlight before rising to prominence during his stint with Brentford. He joined the Bees in July 2019 and has gone from strength to strength in the last four years.
The Spanish international has turned out 161 times for Brentford, keeping 54 clean sheets. Raya has also made two appearances for La Roja. But the player’s stint with the London club will likely end this summer, as he has a little over a year remaining on his contract. Such a situation has alerted Tottenham Hotspur, with Brentford demanding £40 million to part ways with him.
Hugo Lloris will leave Tottenham in the summer transfer window. While the North London giants were already contemplating parting ways with the veteran goalkeeper, he is admittedly keen on a new adventure. And Lloris’s departure will leave Tottenham with Fraser Forster as the only senior goalkeeper.
No changes on David Raya situation. He wants Tottenham move as priority and personal terms are almost agreed since last Sunday. 🚨⚪️ #THFC

So it behoves the North London club to invest in a quality goalkeeper in the summer transfer window. And David Raya has emerged as a viable target for Tottenham. Meanwhile, the Spanish international is prioritising moving across London by joining Tottenham ahead of the 2023/24 season.
Personal terms will not be an issue for either party, considering the player’s desire to join the North London club. But Tottenham might not be ready to pay £40 million to sign Raya in the summer transfer window. And while recent reports suggested a Manchester United hijack might be on the cards, it might not materialise.

It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can coax Brentford to reduce the asking price from £40 million. With the Spanish international keen on joining the North London club, a compromise may be on the cards.
