The just-settled $41 million Avon Court represents a significant upsize from the couple’s neighbouring property. The landmark four-level, lift-connected Victorian mansion features nine bedrooms, seven bathrooms, gymnasium, steam room, two swimming pools, a playground, a mini soccer field, a 10-car basement garage, and six kitchens.
Avon Court sold through Kay & Burton’s Grant Samuel, alongside co-agent Chen Sun, of Ascend. Both agents declined to comment on the recent sale or buyers, citing a nondisclosure agreement.
According to his LinkedIn, Mr Egorov is based in Switzerland, so whether the couple intends to connect the properties and create a sprawling Australian base – or simply upgrade over the fence – remains to be seen.
Sunrise star sells Mosman home
Sunrise sports presenter Mark Beretta and wife Rachel have sold their Mosman resort-style home, after it arrived on the market in February with a guide of $15.5 million.
While the final sale price remains undisclosed, it is understood to be slightly under the initial guide.
The three-bathroom, four-car home was the product of an extensive renovation by the couple alongside Matt Gibson Architecture.
Selling agent, Atlas’ Michael Coombs, said interest in the Mandolong Road property spiked in the last week.
“We had a lot of interest from local buyers, an expat, and some from the eastern suburbs,” he said.
“It’s quite a surprising house when you walk through the door – it has a luxury resort feeling, as it’s very private – big view, spa downstairs, new pool, sauna.”
The Balmoral Slopes home last traded for $6 million in 2016.
North shore record
On Sydney’s leafy upper north shore, Killara has clocked a new suburb record, with a sale just shy of the $20 million guide offered for the Springdale Road property.
It’s a big jump on the previous $16.5 million suburb high set by a Stanhope Road estate in 2021.
The sale marks a tidy windfall for vendors Simon Choi and Xinrong Li, who bought the seven-bedroom mansion for $16.3 million in July 2021.
Selling agent Lisa Davies, of Ray White, said there was stiff competition for the property, which was secured a week out from the EOI campaign closing and came down to the most favourable settlement terms.
“It’s an indication of the strength of the upper north shore prestige market, and in large part it’s due to the increase in overseas buyers following the opening up of China,” she said.
The sale comes about a month after the upper north shore cracked $20 million when the Virgona family sold their Warrawee home.
Northern beaches trophy trail
Ex-JPMorgan heavyweight Matthew Roberts and wife Samantha have banked some serious coin on Sydney’s northern beaches, selling their Newport oceanfront property for about $13 million. This was double the $6.5 million they paid in 2015, according to CoreLogic records.
Mr Roberts is now a partner at boutique M&A adviser Highbury Partnership, which expanded into property after Mr Roberts brought on his brother, ex-UBS real estate banker Ben, to lead its push into the sector in 2020.
The six-bedroom property sits on a 1180-square-metre oceanfront landholding overlooking Newport Beach, and features an 11.5-metre mosaic-tiled lap pool and multiple living zones with oak floors.
Meanwhile, the Palm Beach home once linked to late megastar George Michael has sold to Squadron Energy chief executive Jason Willoughby and partner Helen O’Byrne for about $13.5 million through LJ Hooker Palm Beach’s BJ Edwards
Settlement documents have revealed the energy boss is taking the keys to the Whale Beach Road property, which has reset the Palm Beach coastal record.
The five-bedroom, glass-encased clifftop abode is a long way from Dubbo in NSW’s Central West, where iron ore billionaire Andrew Forrest’s private company, Squadron Energy, plans to launch the first of several gas power stations across the eastern states as part of a multibillion-dollar energy strategy.
Meanwhile, the long-time Bayview home of the late former chairman of the Sydney Stock Exchange and one-time Liberal Party president John Valder, and his late wife Kay, has sold for about $11 million at auction.
The property was first listed with what turned out to be a rather conservative $7 million guide through Belle Property Avalon’s Greg Griffin and Nicholas Hays.
Mr Griffin said Bayview had experienced a surge in inquiries over the last 12 months due to its relative affordability and lifestyle.
“It’s an expansion of Palm Beach and Whale Beach, and Bayview has been identified as an area that offers a lot – acre lots, big north-facing views, tennis courts and access to boating – at a much lower price and commutable distance from the city,” he said.
The Valders purchased the 4390-square-metre property on Ilya Avenue in 1988 for $1.465 million,
In Palm Beach, Boffa Hairdressing’s Frank and Jan Boffa have sold their 1934-built ocean-view home for between $12 million and $12.5 million.
Located just 100 metres from the beach beloved by Sydney’s elite, the six-bedroom home comes with a pool, two large offices and multiple ocean-view terraces.
The property sold through McGrath Pittwater’s James Baker and Adrian Venturi.
Randwick scaling new heights
Once considered the prestige bridesmaid to its eastern suburbs neighbours Queens Park and Clovelly, Randwick is on the verge of cracking double digits – and then some – with the arrival of another record contender.
Anytime Fitness franchisee Troy Dimech’s resort-style home has hit the market with a $12 million guide, well over the suburb’s record of $9.525 million.
Mr Dimech, who runs six gyms across NSW and Victoria, has listed his Darley Road abode, billed as having a “Palm Springs ambience”, complete with heated pool, spa and cabana.
The property – on offer through BresicWhitney’s Maclay Longhurst – follows the $15 million listing of grand Italianate mansion Allowah, which is owned by JPMorgan Australia’s advisory board member David Garrard and his wife Sheila.
The 1880-built St Mark’s Road home is expected to take out the suburb record, with local sources suggesting a sale is imminent.
Still in Randwick, former Lendlease CFO Brad Soller and wife Fiona have sold their historic Bishops Avenue home Artney for $7.5 million.
The downsizing Mr Soller – who has also had roles at David Jones and Metcash – more than doubled his purchase price of $3.32 million, paid in 2006.
Mining director farewells Buderim estate
The Sunshine Coast hinterland estate of mining equipment giant MacKellar Mining’s Duncan MacKellar and his wife Rachel has sold for about $9 million.
The two-storey, six-bedroom, six-bathroom mansion features a billiard room with granite bar, tennis court, gym and home cinema set on 2.03 hectares.
The downsizing couple sold the property through Ray White Nambour’s Matt O’Grady.
