The skies were clear and sunny as people crowded onto Bradley Beach on Saturday to kick off Memorial Day weekend.
It wasn’t blazing hot, but plenty of beachgoers lazed under the sun at Bradley Beach and Ocean Grove, playing in the sand and enjoying games of Spikeball. Others braved the ocean, including a surfer who was floating right when a whale breached the water.
The Bradley Beach Memorial Day Festival and Parade began in the morning with spectators watching the Emerald Society Pipe and Drums march down the street.
The Ocean Avenue boardwalk was packed with a line of vendors as far as you could see.
Festivities will continue on Sunday, with a Memorial Day Service at Riley Park on Monday at 11 a.m.
