The Coutas remain in reach of the top five with a win over Ocean Grove, but it was a star Tiger that stole the attention of the weekend with a mouth-watering haul of goals.
Dawson led the way for the Tigers, with his vice captain Lucas Anderson also booting five majors in the 27.17 (179) to 7.3 (45) victory.
Anderson now has 34 goals from the opening seven rounds, including a bag of 10 against Queenscliff and eight against Barwon Heads, and he leads the competition with Dawson second with 28 this season.
If Anderson continues at his current rate of 4.9 goals per contest, he will hit the 100 mark in the 21st game of the season, which would mean the Tigers would have to play in three finals and have Anderson feature in every game.
Anglesea’s Dylan Pettingill has continued his strong form this season, booting five goals in the Roos’ 14.9 (93) to 8.16 (64) victory over Modewarre.
Pettingill is now third in the competition with 24 majors in five games played, while the Roos solidify its spot in the top five.
Queenscliff has knocked off Ocean Grove, booting 17.7 (109) to 9.9 (63) in the victory.
Jordy McIvor-Clark kicked four in the win, keeping Queenslcliff within four points of Geelong Amateur in the top 5.
The Ammos suffered defeat at the hands of Drysdale, with the Hawks kicking away in the last quarter to secure the victory in Michael Grozdanovski’s 150th game.
Barwon Heads dominated against Newcomb, booting 19.20 (134) to 8.3 (51) at Grinter Reserve.
