With less than a week to go until the start of this year’s Capricorn Writer’s Festival for writers and readers, there is still time to book your tickets.
Themed, Stories by The Sea, the popular bi-annual event, held between 2 –4 June, will bring together a mix of readers and writers, who will have the opportunity to meet award-winning authors in many popular genres, and editors, publishers, and industry professionals from all over Australia, and learn from their knowledge and passion.
Capricorn Coast Writers Festival spokesperson Elaine Ousten said the committee is excited by the enthusiasm for the festival from the people of the region and beyond.
Festival Director, Nene Davies, said ticket sales have been wonderful and there is still plenty of space for late comers.
“We are excited to be able to give the attendees the opportunity to meet, mingle and learn from the amazing line up of professionals who have agreed to present at this year’s festival,” Nene said.
“This year’s workshops will have a focus on the craft of writing, as well as publisher, agent, and editor sessions.
“We will have meet-the-author events, story time for the little ones, events for teens, and social events too.
“We aim to have something for everyone, readers and writers alike.”
Attendees will have many opportunities to meet and mingle with these authors and industry professionals at the Welcome Reception at the Fig Tree Gallery in Normanby Street, Yeppoon on Friday 2 June from 6-8pm and the Saturday night special evening at the Yeppoon Town Hall, Normanby Street, Yeppoon from 7-9.30pm.
It is also a great opportunity to get a signed copy of their latest books from the presenting authors at the bookshop in the Yeppoon Town Hall.
Bestselling crime authors Michael Robotham and Chris Hammer, who have both won the coveted Gold Dagger award, and Melbourne Slam Poet Joel McKerrow will be entertaining attendees at the Saturday night event.
They will also be conducting workshops and participating in panel discussions during the weekend.
Nene said places for workshops and events are filling up fast so if you want to attend, you should book soon.
