Fife Council leader David Ross and housing spokesperson Judy Hamilton have visited Persimmon’s Rosslyn Gait development to hear about the home builder’s investment in Kirkcaldy and across Fife.
Rosslyn Gait is part of a project that will deliver over 1,000 new homes in the area – 163 of which will be transferred to housing association partners to help local people in housing need. 76 of the new affordable homes were recently handed over to Kingdom Housing Association, following the completion of a project involving the housing association and Persimmon North Scotland.
The investment at Rosslyn Gait will include funding for a new primary school and community hall, as well as new commercial and leisure facilities.
Councillors Ross and Hamilton were joined on site by Fife Council’s strategic development manager Steve Ianerelli, where they met with Persimmon North Scotland managing director James MacKay. The trio were given a tour of the development and spoke with the local Persimmon team about the home builder’s continued commitment to investing in communities across Fife.
James MacKay, Persimmon North Scotland managing director, said: “It was great to welcome Councillor Ross and Councillor Hamilton to our Rosslyn Gait development and show them the progress that’s being made in creating a new successful and sustainable community in Kirkcaldy.
“Fife needs more new homes and with nearly half of our customers first-time buyers, we’re proud to be working with Fife Council and other stakeholders to help ensure more local families have the opportunity to own their own home.
“From creating opportunities for local young people through our apprenticeship programme, to supporting charities and good causes through our Community Champions scheme, we’re committed to ensuring our investment delivers real benefits for local people.”
Kirkcaldy Central Councillor and spokesperson for Housing and Building Services, Judy Hamilton, said: “It was very exciting to meet with Persimmon on site and see some of the new homes that will benefit local families.
“I am heartened to hear that almost half of the homes are sold to first-time buyers, creating opportunities for people to take that first step onto the housing ladder.
“Rosslyn Gait is a very important strategic site and I’m delighted to see that Persimmon is not only building homes but working with us to create local jobs and apprenticeships that support Fife’s economy.”
