Mildura Rural City Council is pleased to confirm the appointment of Kate Henschke as General Manager Corporate Performance, representing further progress in the rollout of the Organisational Sustainability Review.
Chief Executive Officer Martin Hawson said Kate’s role was critical for the every-day running of the organisation, responsible for a broad range of areas.
“Kate has worked in the Government sector for many years and is an experienced accountant, as well as holding a legal degree, giving her the skills and experience required to lead our internal services-focused branch,” Mr Hawson said.
“She has also held key strategic roles with Council over the past 10 years.”
As General Manager Corporate Performance, Kate will be responsible for the overall day-to-day running of the organisation, including financial services, governance, information systems, customer support, occupational health and safety, human relations, and communications.
“This is another great step forward for our organisation following the appointment earlier this week of our General Manager Infrastructure and Assets Daryl Morgan and I’m looking forward to making further announcements in coming weeks,” Mr Hawson said.

Kate Henschke
Kate Henschke is an experienced accountant and holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) and a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from Adelaide University, as well as extensive experience working for both State and Local Government and the private sector.
Kate grew up locally before moving to South Australia to study and later took up a role with the South Australian Government’s Department for Environment & Heritage. She began her Local Government career with Mildura Rural City Council in 2012 as a member of the Financial Services branch. Since joining Council, Kate has held several key roles including the Procurement and Fleet Coordinator, Manager Leisure & Cultural Services and most recently as the Manager Strategic Projects, leading cross-functional teams to deliver some of the region’s biggest projects.
With more than 10 years’ experience in Local Government, Kate has demonstrated strong leadership across a range of key areas including the interpretation and implementation of legislation, contractual agreements, strategy development, risk management and policy and procurement best practice.
Aside from her work at Council, Kate has a young family and spends much of her spare time taking her children to local playgrounds or enjoying weekends away camping.
Kate will commence in the role as General Manager Corporate Performance on 17 July 2023.
