Construction Completed, Machinery Under Installation At FFI’s Hydrogen Electrolyser Plant
Fortescue Future Industries (FFI) has given a glimpse of its new manufacturing facility in Gladstone, Queensland, for the production of green hydrogen electrolysers.
“It’s an empty warehouse right now, but our team are hard at work building the internal fit out, which will include automated production and quality assurance lines,” the company said in a LinkedIn post.
The $114 million project aims to produce 2GW of electrolysers per year and the company plans to start mass production before the end of 2023.
FFI has built an electrolyser prototype using its own Australian-made PEM technology. Electrolysers are in high demand as a critical technology needed to produce 100% renewable green hydrogen.
FFI has five major hydrogen projects worldwide, with at least two in the US, one in Kenya, one in Brazil, and another in Norway, as well as a proposal to convert a gas-fed ammonia facility in Australia.
