Conor McGregor has responded to the blowback over a recent skit he was a part of for game four of the NBA Finals.
McGregor was inside the Kaseya Center for the pivotal Miami Heat vs. Denver Nuggets clash on June 9. The “Notorious” one promoted his new TIDL Sport pain relief spray marketed towards athletes. During a skit, McGregor punched Burnie, the Miami Heat mascot.
While the former two-division UFC champion’s strikes were obviously a part of the skit, reportedly the man donning the Burnie suit was legitimately hurt and had to be sent to the hospital. There is good news, as the man was released in a short period time.
Appearing on “Live with Kelly and Mark,” McGregor insisted that everything is fine between himself and Burnie the Miami Heat mascot.
“That was part of the skit,” McGregor said. “It was all a skit. We were backstage. All is well. It was just part of the show. It blew up, you know. I recently made my acting debut. I’m not a bad actor.”
Perhaps McGregor was just using poor Burnie as a sparring partner. After all, he is an opposing coach on season 31 of “The Ultimate Fighter” opposite Michael Chandler. The UFC is hoping to book McGregor vs. Chandler before 2023 comes to a close, but that time window is running thin with McGregor still not back in the USADA testing pool.
