UFC superstar Conor McGregor has spoken up about his viral moment with the Miami Heat’s official mascot. “The Notorious” made the headlines last weekend when he dropped ‘Burnie’ with a single punch at halftime.
The said stunt reportedly sent Burnie to the ER, but according to McGregor, everything’s all good.
Conor McGregor downplays mascot stunt as ‘a skit’
After the incident went viral, those who saw it had different opinions about who should be held accountable.
For UFC president Dana White, it was a bad idea for Burnie to be taking punches from a professional fighter. But for proud Miami native and former ‘BMF’ champion Jorge Masvidal, Conor McGregor should be banned from his beloved city because the Irishman ruined the team’s chakra.
The man himself finally spoke up about the said stunt, saying it was all staged.
“The mascot’s good,” McGregor said in his recent appearance on Live with Kelly and Mark (quotes via MMA Fighting). “It was a skit, and it went the way it went and all is well. I spent a lot of time with him afterwards, we hugged it out and everything was great. It was a skit, it was part of the show.
“We were backstage, all is well, it was part of the show. It blew up. I recently made my acting debut. I’m not a bad actor.”
Conor McGregor pokes fun at Mayweather vs. Gotti
The 34-year-old fighter also had some opinions about the recent exhibition match between Floyd Mayweather and John Gotti III. The bout ended prematurely when referee Kenny Bayless stopped it in the sixth round, disqualifying the late gangster’s grandson.
A post-fight brawl then ensued after Gotti disagreed with the decision and charged at Mayweather.
Seeing the fight unfold, McGregor said he was more impressed by the melee than the actual fight.
“I wasn’t that impressed to be honest with you,” McGregor told TMZ (quotes by MMA Junkie). “We’ll have a go up if he wants. I don’t know where he’s at. There’s no meaning behind it. He’s just here and there.
“There’s no meaning behind the bouts. There’s nothing to it. I enjoyed the brawl afterward more than I did the actual bout.”
Conor McGregor faces new sex assault allegations
Conor McGregor was on the headlines over the last 24 hours, once again for sexual assault allegations. The supposed incident happened during the same night he made his NBA Finals appearance.
A woman alleged that she was separated from a friend during the game by NBA and team staff, then forced into a restroom where McGregor and his security detail were waiting. According to her written statement, the UFC star ‘shoved his tongue’ in her mouth and ‘aggressively kissed her.’
The report goes on to allege that McGregor forced the woman to perform oral sex on him and attempted to sodomize her, but that she was able to escape after elbowing the fighter repeatedly.
Conor McGregor has had multiple sexual assault and rape accusations and lawsuits through the years. Like the previous accusations, McGregor already denied involvement in this most recent one, deeming them as ‘false.’
As for his UFC return, Conor McGregor remains in limbo as he reportedly still isn’t in the USADA testing pool. He is one of the coaches of the ongoing 31st season of the Ultimate Fighter against Michael Chandler, whom he’s expected to face sometime in the future. Team McGregor is currently winless at 0-3.
