Calmer waters on the weekend saw lots of activity on the boat ramp and on the water. Three activations were needed.
On Thursday 18 May a call was received from a Marine Assist member on a 10.97m Fly bridge cruiser with two people on board (POB).
The vessel was experiencing engine problems near Great Keppel Island.
Yeppoon Rescue One was dispatched however a call was then received from the vessel that the engine had started and assistance was no longer needed.
In the meantime another call was received from a 5.6m half cabin cruiser with five POB.
The vessel was experiencing engine problems near North Keppel Island.
As Yeppoon Rescue One was already on the water it was diverted to assist this vessel.
Three adults were taken on board the Coast Guard vessel while the vessel was towed to Rosslyn Bay harbour. A donation was received for the service.
On Friday 19 May a call was received from the 10.97m fly bridge cruiser advising that their engine had once again broken down and they were anchored near Putney Beach on Great Keppel Island.
Yeppoon Rescue One was dispatched and the vessel was taken under tow, returned to Rosslyn Bay Harbour and placed on the red arm in the marina.
On Saturday 20 May a call was received from a Marine Assist member on a 6.6m half cabin cruiser with three POB.
The vessel was having engine problems near the Pinnacles. Yeppoon Rescue One was dispatched and the vessel was taken under tow and returned to Rosslyn Bay harbour.
Saturday 20 May saw the appointment of the Coast Guard CQ Squadron Board and members for the forthcoming two years during the AGM held at Coast Guard Thirsty Sound base. Congratulations to the successful members.
