A classic Mk1 Ford Escort RS1600 is up for sale at auction and it could end up going for a fortune.
The iconic 1973 RS model, finished in white, has been completely restored and now looks in stunningly original condition.
The fast Ford has the legendary Cosworth BDA twin-cam engine, specially designed for motorsport and used in everything from rally cars to Formula 2 racers.
It produces 120bhp, which doesn’t sound a lot, but as the RS only weighs around 800kg it’s more than enough to put a smile on your face when out for a blast.
A five-year restoration project has seen the racy Escort finished in white paintwork, with lots of chrome and black trim to make it look super cool – while inside, the black vinyl trim and fabric bucket seats take you right back to the seventies.
Although the true mileage isn’t known, the odometer indicates the car has covered just 2,638 miles.
The last service was carried out in April 2023, and included a full engine rebuild, along with and a new clutch and flywheel.
