Due to the ongoing winter weather, City of Arlington facilities will open at noon on Thursday, February 2, 2023, subject to road conditions.

In addition, Handitran services and Via transport services will all start at midday on Thursday, subject to road conditions.

UPDATE: Due to overnight freezing rain and current conditions, Republic Services is postponing all trash and recycling collection until Thursday, February 2nd. All rubbish and recycling will be collected on the next scheduled collection day. Rubbish will be collected on Monday 6 February. Recycling will be collected on the next scheduled collection day.

The Arlington Fire Department Public Health Unit located at 2920 South Cooper Street will be open from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Thursday and is expected to resume normal business hours from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Friday the 3rd. February.

All essential city services will be operating Thursday, including public safety, 9-1-1 emergency dispatch, street and water crews. This also includes the Action Center, the city’s information hotline that can be reached by calling 817-459-6777.

Additionally, the City of Arlington has activated its Cold Weather Emergency Plan to serve the homeless population through Friday, March 3rd. February. The Arlington Life Shelter at 325 W. Division St. will begin accepting unsheltered residents at 2 p.m. The Salvation Army, located at 712 W. Abram St. also welcomes unsheltered residents from 19.00 ID is required for entry and food will be served. Interested parties can sign up for text alerts about the city’s cold weather shelters by texting ARLCOLD to 817-241-3544.

Additionally, the Salvation Army is open during the day as a warming station, which is typically when Arlington ISD is closed for inclement weather. Click here to visit the Salvation Army website for more information.

The City of Arlington’s Office of Communications, working with the Water Utilities Department, has published Ask Arlington episodes in English and Spanish to provide residents with tips on how to avoid costly repairs and unnecessary water loss during and after freezing conditions.
