As part of the Safer Together Program the City of Greater Bendigo is inviting residents to attend a Building Resilience for a City in a Forest Workshop which will take place 10am to 3pm Saturday June 24, 2023 at Julie-Anna Inn, Napier Street Bendigo to gain an understanding of what the community needs to be safe in an emergency.
City of Greater Bendigo Manager Community Partnerships Andie West said the aim of the workshop is to capture community perceptions and knowledge about what they would do in an emergency, if they know what to do, why they do, or do not have a bushfire plan and if they know where to get resources and assistance to create one.
“The Safer Together program is a partnership between CFA, City of Greater Bendigo and Bendigo Community Health Services to identify gaps and barriers in relation to emergency preparedness and develop resources and materials to reach those most vulnerable,” Ms West said.
“This information will help develop a community centred approach to emergency preparedness and allow the partners in this project to identify what resources and tools are needed and identify achievable solutions and actions.
“The Workshop will help attendees get prepared and build resilience in situations that are realistic for Greater Bendigo, connect with community and get creative in how they respond to current and future situations, experience scenarios where they enact change through real solutions and programs and learn about local programs.”
Details on how to register for the workshop can be found on the City’s Let’s Talk Greater Bendigo web site Registrations must be made by Friday June 23, 2023. A light lunch will be provided.
People who can’t attend the workshop can still participate in the program by completing a survey on the Let’s Talk Greater Bendigo website by Monday July 31, 2023.
