ALBANY — The menu for Rosanna’s Italian Kitchen in Albany, reopening Friday with new owners including the chef Rachel Mabb, is now available for viewing. See it here.
About half of the menu’s 24 items are vegan or vegetarian, with even more being gluten-free, including all five entrees.
“It felt like a natural progression” for the new owners to continue the Rosanna’s legacy but modernize it with a vegetable-forward menu, Mabb said.
Hours will be 5 to 10 p.m. Monday to Thursday, until 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, closed Sunday. For the first weekend, dining will be by reservation only, with walk-in seating available starting May 22. Call 518-462-9176. Because the restaurant does not expect to have its liquor license in time for the reopening, it will offer a menu of mocktails, with a full bar program to launch after the liquor license arrives.
Mabb is the executive chef and is partnering on Rosanna’s 2.0 with Dora and Mike Philip of The Hollow Bar + Kitchen in downtown Albany; Jory Leanza, a server at The Hollow and Dove + Deer in Albany, who is general manager of Rosanna’s; and Elizabeth McCann, a bartender at Rosanna’s when it opened before becoming general manager of now-closed The Kitchen Table in Albany. McCann and Dora Philip are sharing responsibilities for marketing and private events at Rosanna’s.
The original owners were Brianne Baggetta and Tim Dillon, who opened Rosanna’s in August 2020 after extensive renovation to the 23 Dove St. building, which from 1978 until 2019 was the cherished Bongiono’s Restaurant. Baggetta and Dillon also own Dove + Deer, located across the street from Rosanna’s and open since 2018. The pair put both buildings and businesses separately up for sale in March.
