Brentwood Town have announced the signing of Matt Price and Harrison Chatting, who were on the pitch on opposing sides one the last day of the previous North Division campaign, as Harrison’s AFC Sudbury defeated Matt’s Heybridge Swifts in the Play Off Final.
The two players were previously teammates at Heybridge Swifts and Canvey Island.
Midfielder Harrison Chatting made forty four AFC Sudbury appearances last season, and weighed in with five goals. That Play Off victory was his second in a row, as he was previously part of the Canvey Island side who were victorious- against his new club, Brentwood Town- at the end of the 21-22 campaign. That was his second spell with Canvey, and he has also spent time at Billericay Town. Previously he was also rather successful with Heybridge Swifts, playing a prominent part in their FA Cup and FA Trophy success in 2017-18, and reaching a Playoff Final and a Playoff Semi-Final.
Striker Matt Price scored seven goals for Heybridge Swifts last season, after returning to the club in February. This will be his third Brentwood spell.
He rejoined Swifts from Billericay Town, where he played fifteen times and scored two goals. He started lasts season with Brentwood, where he scored four goals in eleven appearances.
Matthew had a magnificent 2021-22 season for Canvey Island, scoring thirty two times- including the equaliser in the Play Off Final against the club he subsequently joined in the summer and has now joined again.
He was previously with Coggeshall Town, East Thurrock United, and- of course- Swifts, where he scored twenty two goals in 2018-19, and thirty six the season before (half for Brentwood, coincidentally), winning the Golden Boot. He previously played for Horsham and Tooting & Mitcham United.
