Mayo manager Sean Deane and his backroom personnel have made a number of changes to their team for round five of their Electric Ireland Connacht GAA minor football championship game against Sligo this evening (Friday) at Hastings Insurance MacHale Park, Castlebar.
Deane has rotated his team this week and will give competitive game time to several members of his panel.
The manager stated earlier this year that he wanted to get competitive game time into all his players, and his rotation policy this weekend affords him that opportunity.
Dylan O’Brien from Davitts gets his chance in goal, with Darragh McGovern, Seanie O’Reilly and Conall Breslin now filling the full-back positions.
The half-back line also sees changes, with Sean Walsh from Killala, Conor Jennings from Ballinrobe and Paddy Dunleavy from Charlestown now listed to start.
Tiernan Egan impressed against Leitrim last week and he and Thomas Duffy now form a midfield partnership for this evening’s game.
In attack, Conor Nolan, Dara Neary and Conor Ryder are listed in the Mayo half-forward line, with Fionnan Burke from Kiltimagh, Ryan Gibbons from Castlebar Mitchels and Matthew Leonard from Ballina Stephenites all getting their chance to nail down a starting place in the full-forward line.
Christopher Ryan from Galway is down to referee the game, from which Mayo GAA will have live updates across all social media.
Tickets can be purchased here and the match will be live-streamed by Connacht GAA. The throw-in time is 7 p.m.
The starting Mayo team for this evening’s game is as follows: Dylan O’Brien (Davitts); Darragh McGovern (Kiltimagh), Seanie O’Reilly (Castlebar Mitchels), Conall Breslin (Aghamore); Sean Walsh (Killala), Conor Jennings (Ballinrobe), Paddy Delaney (Charlestown); Tiernan Egan (Hollymount/Carramore), Thomas Tuffy (Swinford); Conor Nolan (Balla), Dara Neary (Parke-KC), Conor Ryder (Bohola Moy Davitts); Fionnan Burke (Kiltimagh), Ryan Gibbons (Castlebar Mitchels), Matthew Leonard (Ballina Stephenites).
