CBC remain the dominant benchmark of the Eastern Goldfields Hockey Association’s A1 women’s division after the squad last weekend emphatically recorded an eighth consecutive win against Mines.
As part of a familiar script, CBC combined impressive firepower with a watertight defence in a 7-0 triumph.
The Collegians have conceded just one goal all season — against Pegasus in the season-opener that produced a 6-1 score line.
CBC’s goal output after eight matches is 48 — 36 more than Mines, who retained second place despite a modest four wins, a draw and three losses.
Also last weekend, Pegasus edged Norths, 1-0.
It was just the second win of 2023 for Pegasus, whose rough form in the previous month was marred by four losses and a draw.
Norths remain without a win, with the squad’s best results being consecutive draws against Mines and Pegasus in rounds four and five.
In the women’s second division, Pegasus and YMHC battled to a 2-2 draw last weekend and Mines beat Veterans, 2-0.
Norths lead the way in the division with seven wins, against one loss.
However, the side’s advantage is just one point over CBC whose six wins is complemented by two draws.
Round 11 A1 women’s matches after a bye will be played on June 23 when Norths take on CBC at 6.30m and Mines oppose Pegasus at 8pm.
