WHAT WE’RE LOOKING AT

- Carlton has lost its last six games by a 1-39 point margin.
- Carlton’s previous six games have hit under the total points line.
THE MATCH-UP
A pitiful Carlton is set to battle it out against the Gold Coast Suns at the MCG on Sunday afternoon. If Michael Voss’ men lose this clash, the ramifications will come quick and fast towards the heavyweights.
It was crunch time for Carlton on King’s Birthday Eve against traditional rivals Essendon, but the effort just wasn’t there. The Blues only laid 33 tackles for the match despite chasing the game. A lot of the spotlight has been put on Harry McKay, but Charlie Curnow has not been at his jaw-dropping best in the previous few rounds.

Meanwhile, prior to their bye, the Gold Coast Suns pulled off two huge victories as underdogs against the Western Bulldogs and the high-flying Adelaide Crows. The Suns will be full of confidence, particularly coming off a week’s rest.
As mentioned earlier, Carlton’s tall forward woes and structural game plan have limited their scoring capabilities.
In fact, they are ranked 16th for points scored this season and have failed to score more than 60 points in their previous five matches.
Similarly, Gold Coast are ranked 13th in that department.
Carlton’s last six matches has hit the under and the previous four meetings between these two sides has also hit under the total points line.

MIDFIELD BLUES HITTING THEIR STRIDE
Matthew Kennedy to secure 20+ disposals looks like a very valuable leg that you can include in your multi for Sunday afternoon.
Kennedy has had 20+ disposals in his previous 12 matches at the MCG, as well as four in his last five. The midfield bull will also have to improve his standards with a shake-up in selection on the cards of the Blues are to continue this horrid run of form.
Carlton will be looking to maintain possession on the weekend to get the game on their terms, which is something they have struggled to do in recent weeks. They should be able to somewhat do so here, considering they are ranked 4th for total possessions, with Gold Coast ranked last in the competition.
One man who is key into making all of this happen is Adam Cerra, who was one of the best players of the round according to champion data despite the disappointing loss to the Bombers. He amassed 30+ disposals for the sixth time in his previous eight matches.

GOALS UP FOR GRABS
Bailey Humphrey is one of the many exciting talents that is coming through the AFL system this season. The young Suns talisman has kicked eight goals in his nine game career thus far and his unpredictable nature provides some good value with Ladbrokes to kick a major.
He has kicked at least one goal in his previous four matches and we fancy him to continue that streak against a lacklustre Blue’s outfit that can’t seem to hit their stride.
Jarrod Witts continues to be a premier ruckman in the competition and we like the value here for him to highlight his aerial prowess on Sunday. He loves playing Carlton at the ‘G, kicking a goal on the previous three occasions.

FIRST STRIKE AGAINST AN OLD TEAM
Levi Casboult hasn’t had the season this far that he would’ve hoped for, but the big forward has gotten off to good starts in recent matches. In fact, he has kicked the first goal of the match in two of his previous three.
Casboult also had three scoring shots in his only match against his former side and is still at considerable value considering the Carlton defence conceded five goals to Essendon’s tall forward Peter Wright last time out.
THE PICK
A win on the weekend could see the Sun’s move into the top eight for the first time this season. It would be a massive four points in their gruelling quest to finally feature in finals football for the first time since the clubs induction into the league in 2009.
Considering the bin-fire way Carlton are playing at the moment, Gold Coast is the play, despite a 4-12 record at the MCG since 2011.
