SYDNEY, N.S. – The Cape Breton Eagles will begin their 68-game Quebec Major Junior Hockey League regular season with a pair of home games against the Moncton Wildcats in September.
The club’s home opener is set for Sept. 22 at 7 p.m. at Centre 200 against the Wildcats. The teams will meet again on Sept. 23 at 7 p.m. at the Sydney venue.
Cape Breton’s first road trip will be Sept. 29-30 when they travel to New Brunswick to play the Saint John Sea Dogs, both 7 p.m. starts at TD Station.
The first installment of the Battle of Nova Scotia will be held on Oct. 4 with the Eagles hosting the Halifax Mooseheads at Centre 200.
Meanwhile, the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada will be the first Quebec-based team to visit Cape Breton for the 2023-24 season and they will come to town on Oct. 6.
The Eagles’ first Quebec road trip of the year will take place Oct. 12-15 when they visit the Gatineau Olympiques, Rouyn-Noranda Huskies, and Val-d’Or Foreurs.
Among the notable home games is Oct. 19 when Cape Breton hosts the Acadie-Bathurst Titan in a special 11 a.m. start at Centre 200.
Cape Breton and Halifax will once again meet for a home-and-home series over the holidays. The Eagles and Mooseheads will play Dec. 30 at 3 p.m. in Sydney and Dec. 31 at 2 p.m. at Scotiabank Centre in Halifax.
Other notable home games during the season will see the defending Gilles Couteau Trophy champion Quebec Remparts come to Cape Breton on Jan. 11. The team’s last home game of the regular season will be March 9 against the Sea Dogs in Sydney.
Cape Breton will finish the regular season with a five-game road trip which will see the team make stops in Moncton on March 14 and March 17, Acadie-Bathurst on March 15, and a pair of games against the Charlottetown Islanders on March 22 and 23.
The five-game road trip to finish the year was necessary Sydney hosting the World Women’s Curling Championship at Centre 200.
Cape Breton will play at home four times on Wednesday, five times on Thursday, as well as nine times on Friday and Saturday. The team will also have seven home games on Sunday.
