Still searching for their first win of the season, Bundaberg State High are under no illusions about the toughness of their opposition.
“We are well and truly aware of the level of competition we will be coming up against in the next few rounds and we are under no illusions that this game against TCC will be any different,” Handley said.
“Teams from Rocky (Rockhampton) tend to have a big and mobile forward pack, so we will need to do our best to counter that.
“We are in this competition to play sides of a higher standard, and that’s what will make us a better side and better players.”

Reflecting on their Round 2 loss, Handley is optimistic about his side’s chances, but, stressed winning is not the be all and end all, it is a nice ‘cherry on top’.
“It was a really disappointing loss against Shalom (College) last round, as it was definitely a winnable game,” he said.
“We are excited to test ourselves this week, and we also know that regardless of the result, we have our own goals and aspirations we want to achieve.
“We need to make sure we focus on the effort areas, kick chase, line speed and being solid in the one percenters that, regardless of skill or athletic ability, will keep us in the game and competitive.”
On the other side of the field, The Cathedral College has its checklist to tick off after making the great escape in Emerald last round.
“Last week’s game was definitely entertaining, I’ll say that much,” head coach Mick Busby said after his side came back after giving up 22 unanswered points in the first 15 minutes.
“We got the win, but I was unhappy with how we started that game, in particular the first 15 minutes, it was almost like the boys were still on the bus (to the game).”
The coach is confident in his team’s ability to improve their starts, and is anticipating a tough contest.
“We don’t actually know much about them (BSHS) really, but we are confident that if we come out focused, play our game and stick to our plan, we will come away with the win,” he said.
“We play a semi-structured style that still allows for everybody to get a touch of the ball as we aren’t afraid of throwing the ball around, going edge to edge.
“So, if we play to our strengths and stop their attacks, we will be tough to beat.”
