The Bundaberg Bulls have charged home with another win in the Queensland State League Division 2 competition.
Last weekend the Bulls defeated Gladstone’s Port City Power team 97-88 and they will go head-to-head again this weekend at the Autobarn Arena.
Bulls coach Andrew Bainbridge said they would be looking to put themselves in the positive-side of the ledger this weekend having won three out of the last five matches.
Bainbridge said it was a good win against Gladstone last week, with their opponents a competitive and well coached side.
He said the Bulls did well to adapt to the different defence thrown at them and they were once again faced a lot of taller players making for a strong battle with the rebounds that they had to match.
Bainbridge said Jesse Lomax had one of his best games of the season so far, copping a few whacks while up against Gladstone’s “tall timber”.
He said Jarrod Sheppard shot well, with at least two consecutive 3-pointers.
Sheppard racked up 19 points for the Bundy side with five 3-pointers, a 2-point show at two free throws.
Lomax put 26 points on the board for the Bulls with two 3-pointers, seven 2-pointers and six free throws.
Bainbridge said it was good to see the guys getting on a roll.
While many aspects of the Bulls were coming together, Bainbridge said they still had to get running the game consistently.
He said their opposition wanted to slow them down, but Bundy needed to keep pushing and maintain their fast-paced game.
Enjoying the competition, Bainbridge said the Gladstone match was one that kept him on his toes.
He said you couldn’t be sitting on the sideline as a coach you had to be watching, and their assistant coach and injured captain Tom Laycock were both helping.
This weekend the Bulls are hoping for another win at home.
To watch the Bulls in action head down to the Autobarn Arena, 3 Flint St at 7pm on 13 May.
