- Man shot in groin in alleged carjacking in Dalby, Queensland
- The men continued on before striking a motorbike rider
- The man shot in the groin is in a serious condition
A man has been left in a serious condition after he was shot in the groin following an alleged carjacking.
The driver and his passenger were stopped on the side of the road in a Mitsubishi Triton in Dalby, west of Brisbane at 8.30am on Thursday.
Two men, aged 30 and 33, then approached the vehicle before a fight broke out and the driver was allegedly shot in the groin.
Detective Inspector Jason Kitto said the men had demanded the keys to the vehicle.
‘The victim has since been flown from Dalby to Toowoomba hospital and he’s currently undergoing treatment,’ he said.
‘The injury sustained to the victim is not life-threatening at this time.’
Queensland Police said the two groups are not known to each other.
The two men fled the scene in the Triton with police launching a manhunt for the pair.
The Triton was spotted on the Warrego Highway travelling towards Toowoomba with police engaging by using tyre spikes to slow down the ute.
Queensland Police allege the pair continued on before striking a man riding a motorbike at a Toowoomba intersection.
The rider suffered minor injuries and was transported to Toowoomba Hospital in a stable condition.
‘The male rider of that motorcycle was treated on scene by [paramedics], my understanding is he’s currently seeking further treatment for minor injuries,’ Inspector Kitto said.
Both men were taken into custody around 10am, with police allegedly locating two guns in the ute.
Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam or CCTV vision of the incidents to come forward.
