Brad Tesink joined B.C. Hockey League team last October
The Prince George Spruce Kings have signed associate coach Brad Tesink to a new contract.
The 34-year-old native of Saint John, N.B. joined the Spruce Kings on Oct. 31, replacing Andrew Shaw, who left the team five weeks into the 2022-23 season.
“I’m excited for the opportunity to continue my work with the Spruce Kings,” said Tesink, in a team release. “Having the opportunity to continue to build this team with Mike [Hawes], Alex [Evin] and the rest of our staff made the decision very easy as I see great things in the future for our organization.”
Prior to joining the Spruce Kings Tesink was head coach of the South Shore Lumberjacks of the Maritime Junior Hockey League. He also coached the New Brunswick men’s team at the 2023 Canada Winter Games in Prince Edward Island.
“He’s a very knowledgeable and hard-working coach who can relate to and understand today’s players,” said Kings general manager Mike Hawes. “He works very well in unison with Alex. Having them both back next season was important to me because continuity and consistency are important in junior hockey.”
Tesink played five years of junior hockey as a defenceman, including four seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (with Gatineau, Acadie-Bathurst and Cape Breton).
He won the MJHL championship in 2010 with the Woodstock Slammers.
